QR Code Generator
Turn any link or text into a QR code instantly. Download a high-resolution PNG, free forever, with no tracking or expiry. Everything is generated locally in your browser.
What can you encode?
Anything text-based: website links, plain text, phone numbers (tel:+1...), emails (mailto:...), or Wi-Fi credentials (WIFI:T:WPA;S:NetworkName;P:password;;). Print them on flyers, business cards, menus, or packaging.
How QR codes work
A QR ("Quick Response") code is a two-dimensional barcode that stores data in a grid of black and white squares. A phone camera reads the pattern and decodes it instantly. Unlike a traditional barcode, a QR code holds far more information and can be scanned from any angle. The three large squares in the corners help the camera locate and orient the code, which is why it works even when the phone is tilted.
Static vs. dynamic QR codes
The codes this tool creates are static: your data is encoded directly into the pattern. That means they never expire, need no account, and don't route through anyone's server — scan one in ten years and it will still work. "Dynamic" QR codes from some paid services instead point to a redirect link the provider controls, which lets them change the destination and track scans, but also means the code stops working if that service shuts down. For most uses — menus, business cards, Wi-Fi sharing — static codes are the better, more durable choice.
Common uses
- Restaurant menus: link to a web page so you can update prices without reprinting.
- Business cards: encode your website or contact details.
- Wi-Fi sharing: guests scan to join without typing a password — see our Wi-Fi QR code guide.
- Events and flyers: link to tickets, maps, or sign-up forms.
- Product packaging: link to instructions, warranty, or support.
Tips for reliable scanning
- Keep good contrast. Dark code on a light background scans best; avoid busy patterns behind it.
- Don't print too small. A rough rule is at least 2 × 2 cm for print, larger if people scan from a distance.
- Leave a quiet zone. Keep clear space around the code so the camera can find its edges — the margin control above handles this.
- Test before you print by scanning the downloaded image with your own phone.

Frequently asked questions
Do these QR codes expire?
Never. They are static codes that encode your data directly, so they work forever with no account or subscription.
Is my data tracked?
No. The QR code is generated entirely in your browser. We don't see or store what you encode, and there's no redirect or analytics baked in.
Can I use these commercially?
Yes, the QR codes you generate are yours to use anywhere — print, web, products — at no cost.
