How to Create a Wi-Fi QR Code (So Guests Connect Instantly)
Make a free QR code that lets anyone join your Wi-Fi by scanning — no typing passwords. Works on iPhone and Android.
Stop reading your Wi-Fi password aloud to guests. A Wi-Fi QR code lets anyone connect by simply pointing their camera at it — and you can make one for free in under a minute.
Step 1: Format the Wi-Fi text
Wi-Fi QR codes encode a special string. Replace the parts in capitals:
WIFI:T:WPA;S:NETWORK_NAME;P:YOUR_PASSWORD;;
- T = security type:
WPA(most common), ornopassfor open networks. - S = your network name (SSID), exactly as it appears.
- P = the Wi-Fi password.
Step 2: Generate the code
- Open the free QR Code Generator.
- Paste your
WIFI:...string into the box. - Choose a size and download the PNG.
Step 3: Print and place it
Put it on the fridge, by the front door, or on a guest-room card. iPhone (iOS 11+) and modern Android phones detect Wi-Fi QR codes natively from the camera app — no extra app needed.
Is it safe?
The code contains your password in plain text, so only share it with people you'd give the password to anyway. Because our generator runs entirely in your browser, the password is never sent to us or anyone else.
