How to calculate a discount

Multiply the original price by the discount percentage to get the amount saved, then subtract it. For 25% off $80: 80 × 0.25 = $20 saved, so you pay $60. This tool does it instantly and also shows the total percentage off.

Stacked ("extra % off") discounts

A common trick: "50% off, then an extra 20% off" is not 70% off. The second discount applies to the already-reduced price. 50% of $100 is $50; another 20% off $50 is $40 — a total of 60% off, not 70%. Enter both percentages above and the calculator handles the stacking correctly.

Frequently asked questions

What is 25% off $80?

You save $20 (80 × 0.25) and pay $60.

How do stacked discounts work?

The second discount applies to the price after the first one, so '50% then 20% off' equals 60% off total, not 70%. This calculator computes it correctly.
